Reserved

Stores across America are resetting; Christmas stuff is likely no where to be found and Cupid has puked all over the holiday aisle. That means here soon, you'd better get your Valentine's Day plans ironed out, including a COVID-19 limited capacity dinner reservation. You'll call the restaurant and ask them to reserve you a table for two.

Have you asked God to reserve a spot for you with Him in eternity? Look what Paul told the Colossians:

We always thank God...when we pray for you...because of the hope reserved for you in heaven. Colossians 1:3-5 (CSB)

As a bit of a nerd, I like looking at how sentences in Scripture are written. That word reserved is in the passive voice, meaning neither Paul nor the Colossians are the ones doing the reserving. Who is? That would be God!

He is the One who does the reserving in Heaven, but we still have to call and make the reservation. We don't have to leave a name and number; He already knows. We just have to confess that He is in control and believe that God raised Him from the dead after He paid our penalty for sin (see Rom. 10:9-10).
