If We Hope...

Are you one of those parents who resorts to low level bribery to get certain behavior from your kids? I'll admit it: I am. It works because of something my kids hope for, and that hope has certain effects. If their hope is only realized when their room is clean, they tend to clean their room! We who follow Christ have an eternal hope reserved for us in Heaven, but what is the result of that hope?

When the true message, the Good News, first came to you, you heard about the hope it offers. So your faith and love are based on what you hope for, which is kept safe for you in heaven. Colossians 1:5 (GNT)

Our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus's blood and righteousness, but that hope then results in faith in Jesus Christ. In other words, we long for salvation so much that it causes us to have faith in Christ. But it doesn't stop there! Those of us who hope for salvation will also develop a love for others who share our hope.

So if we hope for salvation, we both have faith in Christ Jesus and love others who hope for salvation and have faith in Him too. So we see in practice why "now these three remain: faith, hope, and love - but the greatest of these is love." (1 Cor. 13:13 CSB)

God gives us our hope and future! Remind yourself of that with this beautiful art!
